2024 trips are on!
Explore the CHOuting Club
Our goal is to provide for the social and physical development for SHS students in a wide range of outdoor pursuits and environmental settings that counter the very indoor lives many children lead. One of the primary goals of the CHOuting Club (Cool and Chill Outing Club) is to encourage fellowship among SHS classmates and their families, through the sharing of skills and ideas in the outdoors. We aim to provide a place where everyone is welcome.
Expeditions
Expeditions to date have included overnight hikes to the AMC’s huts in the White Mountains, winter weekends in Crawford Notch and Pinkham Notch, spring skiing trips to Tuckerman Ravine, and spring biking/kayaking trips on Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
Who Organizes Trips
Any member can propose a trip for any grade, provide other members with logistical information, and serve as a Trip Coordinator. The club organizers have planned trips for families with students in Grades II to VIII. Parents of students in younger grades (Beginners through 1st Grade) are welcome to initiate trips. Alumni and past parents are also encouraged to organize trips.
